“The Americans” star Keri Russell has split from her husband of 7 years Shane Deary, her publicist confirms for People magazine. The separation occurred last summer but it’s just now that Russell is speaking out on the topic.

The news comes just one day after Keri made headlines all over the world after word got out that she’d been burglarized while she slept. She later tweeted to let her fans know that she was ok and that no one had been hurt in the incident.

As it turns out, these two bits of information are not as unrelated as you might think, because the confirmation of the split comes after media inquiries into the whereabouts of Keri’s family during the burglary.

In other words, various publications contacted her publicist to ask why she was alone in the house at the time she was being robbed.

“They have been separated since early summer. The separation is amicable and their focus is on their children,” Russell’s publicist says. There are no reports indicating that the split is anything but that, or that a third party might have been involved in their decision.

Neither is there any indication as to the cause of the split. However, the focus of the two is clearly on the children: they have a son, River, who is 6 and a half years old, and a daughter, Willa, who is only 2 years old.

Keri and Dean, who works as a contractor, met through mutual friends and hit it off instantly. They got engaged in 2006 and were married on the most romantic day of the year, on Valentine’s Day, in 2007.

Before she met Dean, Keri dated her fellow Mouseketeer and “Malibu Shores” co-star Tony Lucca for 8 whole years, and Scott Speedman, with whom she starred on “Felicity.”
