The development team at Cardboard Computer working on Kentucky Route Zero says that it will not offer clear launch dates for the coming chapters in the title in order to make sure that it does not disappoint fans who are waiting to play them.

The two developers, Jake Elliott and Tamas Kemenczy, are saying that they were affected by the reactions coming from the fan community and that they are aiming to launch the next chapters when they are complete and ready to be played.

The pair is telling Polygon that, “It was pretty demoralizing to miss deadlines, and the barrage of negative attention that followed made it only more difficult to focus on work.”

They add, “More importantly, we’ve learned that our process is quite exploratory, experimental, and unpredictable anyway. It’s crucial for our work that we reserve the right to throw things away, rework things as necessary, and allow the project to grow organically.”

The team at Cardboard Computer believes that it is more important to respect the project they are working on than an arbitrary timeline that they announce to the world.

As Kentucky Route Zero is being created, the studio discovers narrative moments that need to be expanded and it can only do that if it’s not under constant pressure from fans.

The first act of the game was launched in January last year and the team delivered a second one in May.

Both arrived later than initially expected and since then, the developers have said that fans might need to wait for a longer period for the third piece of content linked to Kentucky Route Zero.

The experience is a special one because it mixes traditional survival elements with a world dominated by zombies and a unique art style.

The adventure game can be bought using a Season Pass system for PC, Linux and Mac.
