14 DAY TRIAL // Kendall Jenner may have gotten her start in the industry as a reality star on E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but she’s itching to be taken seriously as a model. Believing her reality TV reputation is actually working against her, she even dropped the Jenner name professionally – and the move seems to be paying off already.
Rumor has it that she’s in talks to become an Angel for the lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret, which is to say, she’s this close to landing the job every model dreams of.
Kendall might even walk the runway in the annual VS show, which will take place soon and is usually one of the highlights of the year in the industry.
Kendall works hard and VS has been paying attention
Though she’s yet to make it big in modelling, Kendall has already been working steadily in the industry for a couple of years and can boast gigs with big designers, from Fendi and Pucci, to Lanvin and Givenchy.
Many people, including industry insiders, believe that she earned most of these contracts by being born in the right family, which has all the connections she needed to build a career in modeling, but she maintains that she actually had to work twice as hard as other models because she’s so famous.
Whichever the case, Kendall has been making a lot of appearances, and whenever she does, she gets plenty of attention. What designer doesn’t like a bit of extra attention? Even Victoria’s Secret would love it, it would seem.
“They saw all the buzz she got from walking in New York Fashion Week,” a spy is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. “They’d love to lock in a contract with her. Kendall once said her biggest dream was to be an Angel.”
The report adds that, if she gets the job, the official announcement will probably be made later this month, ahead of the annual VS show.
Hate as you will but Kendall is going places
Even if Kendall doesn’t become an Angel this year, which would undoubtedly put her among the highest-paid and most in-demand models in the world, she’s still going places. The mere fact that she’s rumored to be wanted as an Angel is proof of that.
Her career so far has been nothing if not spectacular: she’s even been featured in Vogue magazine, an “honor” that took half-sister Kim years and the right husband (Kanye West) to make happen.
Kendall has plenty of haters, which comes with the territory when you’re part of the famous Kardashian-Jenner family, but there’s no denying that, no matter the manner in which she lands gigs, she carries them through like a pro.
So, while the reason designers are now seeking her out could be related to her last name, the fact that they keep coming back to her has nothing to do with that, but with her ability to do the job – and do it well.
