Actor Kelsey Grammer spoke via satellite to the killer of his younger sister, Karen Elisa Grammer, who was abducted, raped, and brutally killed in 1975 when she got off from work. Freddie Glenn is serving time at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility in Colorado, and was in front of a parole board the other day, begging for a second chance at being released.

Glenn was initially sentenced to death but had the sentence changed for life imprisonment, with the possibility of parole in 30 years.

The ABC News video report embedded below includes snippets from Grammer’s message for the parole board: he told Glenn that he believed him when he said he was filled with regret for the crime he committed and that he forgave him for taking his sister away from him.

However, he wasn’t about to let him walk free, it would be wrong if he didn’t block his release.

“I accept that you live with remorse, but I live with tragedy every day. I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement. To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sister's life,” Grammer said, getting really emotional.

And Karen Elisa would have had an amazing life if it hadn’t been cut short. “She was a terrific kid. She was a wonderful person and I miss her all the time.”

At the time Karen Elisa was killed, she was 18 years old and Kelsey was 20. In more recent interviews, like the one with Oprah he did in 2012, he described the experience as the most traumatizing ever, leaving behind a pain that he still feels very acutely after all these years.

Back then, when he was asked if he could ever forgive the man who took his sister away from him, he only responded with a tearful “maybe.”

Karen Elisa had finished her shift at the Red Lobster in Colorado and was waiting outside the restaurant for her boyfriend to come and pick her up. Glenn and accomplices had previously tried to rob the place and they were convinced she could identify them, so they decided to make sure this would never happen.

She was abducted and taken to an apartment where she was raped repeatedly, KKTV informs. She was lied that she would be released at the end of the ordeal, but before that happened, Glenn slit her throat. She was left in the apartment to die.

KKTV informs that Karen Elisa managed to crawl out of the apartment, making it to a nearby house. She died on the porch, because the owners weren’t at home.

Freddie Glenn has also been found guilty of two other murders. He has been denied parole, and is up for his next hearing in 2017.
