In late December, word first got out that Kelly Clarkson, the “original American Idol” was set to make a splashing comeback on the music scene with a new single that would be taken off a fresh album to drop in March. Since many were wondering whether a single launched out of the blue could prove successful, the answer is here: Kelly’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” has jumped more than 90 positions in the Billboard singles chart.

In doing so, Kelly’s song actually set a new record, bringing Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” down from its “throne.” Not only has Kelly set a new record, the track jumping from #97 straight to #1 in just one week, but she has also joined the elite ranks of singers whose music prompts such reaction in fans, since this was the third biggest digital debut from a female performer. Kelly’s single moved 279,605 digital items in its first week. For the sake of comparison, Britney’s “Womanizer” landed at #96 and then moved to #1 in a week, which makes Kelly the artist with the biggest jump.

Just the other day, the singer took to her official blog to thank her fans for the massive support they’ve showed her, and this was before the record breaking “stunt” was made public. “THANK YOU!!!!! THANK Y’ALL SO MUCH FOR REQUESTING AND VOTING FOR MY NEW SINGLE!!! IT’S DOING SO GREAT BECAUSE OF Y’ALL SO THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!” Kelly wrote at the time.

Also then, the singer revealed further plans for her album (“All I Ever Wanted,” scheduled for release on March 17) and for an upcoming tour that would, most definitely, play out better than her previous ones. “I’m about to start rehearsing the new record with the band and my first performance of ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ will be in the Bahamas… so not too bad, very excited about that!… So is the band ha!” Kelly revealed.

Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the first edition of the ever so popular “American Idol” televised competition, was initially guided in the industry by renowned record boss Clive Davis. Before Kelly’s “My December” came out, the two had a highly mediated fallout, which ended in bitter he-said/she-said type of remarks. Judging from how “All I Ever Wanted” is already doing and judging by the first single off it, it seems that Kelly will be back at the top of the charts in almost no time.
