Developed by Fann Software, PIFile is a standard personal-information manager that can effectively protect all your private pieces of information. The full package of the software includes two versions of the application: one that will be installed directly on the Pocket PC and another one on a Desktop PC. Users will be able to synchronize the data between PIFile and PIFile Desktop by using Active Sync. Employing desktop Windows Explorer, they will have to locate a directory under \My Documents that is named "<Device Name> My Documents" or "Documents on <Device Name>." The PIFile data file is located in this directory.

Basically, PIFile will be able to store any personal information that requires password protection, such as: credit-card numbers, pins, logins, driver-license numbers, software keys, insurance-policy numbers, and bank-account numbers. The protection that the application offers is encrypted with the TripleDES encryption algorithm featuring a user-defined password. The latter can be defined by employing an alphanumeric password with a length of up to 16 characters.

All the information that is stored in the application is very well organized by categories. After you will enter some of the pieces of information that need to be safely stored, you will be able to see a tree view of categories. You can order the category content by field and you will be able to customize the field name. PIFile also features an integrated password generator and support for VGA, square screen and landscape mode.

Fully compatible with any touchscreen device running Windows Mobile 2003, 2003 SE, 5.0, Windows Mobile 6 (Classic or Professional), 6.1 (Classic or Professional), or 6.5 (Classic or Professional), PIFile only requires 650KB of storage space on your Pocket PC. The Desktop PIFile requires Windows XP with SP2, or Windows Vista, Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7 or later, 10.5 MB of disk space, and a Super VGA (800x600) 16-bit color resolution or better.
The demo version of the software can be freely used for 15 days, after which you will have to buy the application. The full version of PIFile can be bought for US$16.95.
