Former HTC execs have gotten together in a new mobile startup called Kazam. They promised that we would see their first devices later this year and it looks like they have managed to deliver.

In fact, Kazam has officially announced the upcoming availability of two mid-range Android smartphones, the Thunder and Trooper. Both handsets will hit shelves in the UK in the coming days.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the phones’ pricing options and exact release date, so we will keep an eye out for any additional info.

According to Engadget, Kazam’s officials announced no less than 7 smartphones, but Thunder 4.5 and Trooper 3.5 will be the first to arrive on the market.

Both series are aimed at customers who do not wish to commit to long-term contracts, so we can assume they will be priced accordingly.

There aren’t any details on the other five Kazam smartphones, but we know a little bit of something about Thunder 4.5 and Trooper 3.5.

As the name suggests, Thunder 4.5 sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

On the inside, the mid-range smartphone comes equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and 1GB of RAM. There’s also an 8-megapixel main camera on the back, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The entry-level Trooper 3.5 features a much smaller 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, but there are variations of the smartphone all the way up to 5.5-inch. It packs a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek processor and 512MB of RAM.

It is also worth mentioning that all smartphones are powered by stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and, more importantly, they come with dual-SIM support. Last but not least, all seven Kazam smartphones offer microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
