14 DAY TRIAL // Singer Katy Perry and comedian Russell Brand are engaged to be married, the British star having proposed to her during a recent trip to India over the winter holidays. Though no official confirmation has been made by the rep of either celeb, the “Hot ‘n’ Cold” hitmaker showed off the £30,000 engagement ring she got just recently as she and Russell stepped out in London over the weekend, the Mirror writes.
Word of Katy and Brand, once the most infamous womanizer on the British party scene, and not only, being engaged emerged last week, with several Twitter posts from both stars appearing to confirm the happy news. Since then, both lovers and their spokespersons have been seemingly deaf to media inquiries on the topic but, as they say, a picture can speak as loud as one thousand words. In this sense, Katy wearing a new ring that looks very much like an engagement ring speaks volumes.
“Katy Perry now has no doubt boyfriend Russell Brand is a diamond geezer... And to prove her point, the singer yesterday showed off for the first time the £30,000 engagement ring he bought her,” the Mirror writes. In all fairness, several photos of the couple, all decked in black and with huge dark sunglasses, show that, indeed, Katy is wearing what looks like an engagement ring.
“The giant two-carat rock embedded in a thick gold band sparkled like the icy pavements as the couple went for breakfast at a café near Russell’s North London home. It was no secret Brand, 34, was going to pop the question, since he was spotted choosing the ring three weeks ago in Cartier. But a pal said: ‘Katy adored it and more so because Russell picked it himself.’ The couple later headed to Heathrow for a flight to the US to show off the ring to 25-year-old Katy’s family in California,” the British publication goes on to say.
As of now, no wedding date has been made public, which is only understandable given that the engagement itself is yet to be confirmed. However, word in the industry has it that the announcement should come pretty soon, after the two lovers break the news to Katy’s family, it is being said.
