Katy Perry has always said she would never diet down to a size 0 and that she's very proud of her curves, but that doesn't mean she doesn't pay a lot of attention to maintaining her killer figure. On the contrary, she says.

Speaking with People magazine on a recent press stop, the pop star revealed that she puts a lot of thought and effort into maintaining her enviable shape.

Because she's not a gym person, Katy makes sure she keeps active at all times, but also that she eats healthily.

Her biggest challenge is when she's on tour, and she has to have energy to perform and stay healthy even though she's losing sleep.

Her diet is essential at these times, she says.

“When I was on the road, I liked to have a light soup, a piece of grilled chicken and some quinoa with grilled asparagus for dinner,” she says.

“I always need my daily vitamins and I loved fresh-pressed juices and coconut water. I also love snacks, but pick healthier options like veggies and hummus, tangerines or Popchips,” Katy adds.

Just the other day, Katy became the face of Popchips, so perhaps it's not just a coincidence that she namedrops this particular brand.

“Eating healthy is so important because I can't afford to get sick. When I was on the road, it was very important to eat a balanced meal and to make sure my energy was up for every two-hour show,” she further says.

As for how she burns all the extra calories, Katy says she dislikes the gym because she would rather be outside.

“[I have] a routine of waking up early, starting my day with a workout, meditating and getting fresh air. I love being outdoors. I prefer to go on hikes or ride my bike,” the singer explains.

Obviously, all this is paying off: Katy Perry has a great body, fit but not skinny, with curves in all the right places.
