Look out for some strong lyrics in Katy Perry's next songs, because some of them, or at least one of them, is going to be about her failed relationship with fellow singer John Mayer. And based on all the gossip surrounding this bad breakup, we're bound to get some disclosures that are going to set not only the charts on fire.

Speaking with Cosmopolitan Magazine, Katy Perry finally confirmed her split from John Mayer after dating for 18 months but insisted that there was no longer any conflict between the two of them, just friendship. That being said, Katy did confirm that she was planning to turn their relationship into a song.

Where we come from, friends don't do that to friends, but in showbiz world, everything is possible and, if there's money to be made and fun to be poked at your ex, than it's all good. “There's no bad blood. But I'm sure there will be inspired songs,” Katy told the publication, and she chose to phrase that as a warning.

But John doesn't seem to be too worried. The paparazzi from TMZ caught up with the 36-year-old singer on a night on the town and asked what he thought about the possible name-dropping in Katy's new song, but he laughed the matter off.

“I'm fine – that's what you're supposed to do man,” he calmly replied without missing a beat. But he did add a piece of advice to Katy, which can be construed as a direct diss, “You're supposed to write songs. You're just not supposed to tell everybody you're doing it.”

He also added, as a hefty dose of male machismo that “I have super strength for gang-ups, I'm fine,” referring to the fact that ex-girlfriends seemed to be making him out as the bad guy. The irony is that Mayer is known to return the favor tenfold.

It's weird to see these two duking it out verbally in the press, after just months ago they seemed to be heading down the altar. The press went wild as close as February with engagement and wedding rumors but they were proven wrong soon after Valentine's Day.

All we have left now are these mean quips in videos and newspapers, flung out at one another, each hoping to get a rise out of his or her former partner. It's very likely that none of them would want to see the video they shot at the beginning of the year for the song “Who You Love.” But then again, not many people do either.

Below is a video of the last time Katy Perry and John Mayer could still look each other in the eyes and mouth "I love you."
