Video game publisher Electronic Arts and music superstar Katy Perry have announced that they are starting a long term relationship which will see a number of Sims projects benefit from the presence and the music of the singer.

The first of these will be the Showtime expansion for The Sims 3, which is set to get a Katy Perry powered Collector’s Edition in March.

The package will allow gamers to get an Ultimate Stage bonus venue, items that are Katy Perry themed and an exclusive poster of the artist.

Perry is also set to appear in advertising campaign for The Sims and the company will deliver more accessories, from clothing to hairstyles to props based on her style and image.

Katy Perry herself stated, “I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters - giving them different careers and watching them succeed. It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”

Steve Schnur, who is the worldwide executive of music at Electronic Arts, added, “Katy Perry has been a fan of The Sims for several years, and her Simlish recording of her hit ‘Hot and Cold’ featured in The Sims™2 series quickly became the most popular Simlish music video to date. We couldn’t be more excited to work with Katy and bring her distinctive talents, style and personality to the franchise’s global fan base. No performer could better represent the humor and fun of The Sims brand.”

Showtime is the most recent expansion for The Sims 3 and will allow gamers to live the life of the artist, choosing new careers based around music and theater which will allow them to interact with their fellow Sims in new and innovative ways.
