Not that this should come as any surprise but Kat Von D’s wedding will be unlike any other, traditional ceremony. The tattoo artist will tie the knot in August with world-famous DJ Deadmau5, and has been keeping very busy with wedding plans.

Speaking to People magazine, Kat reveals that they’ve been planning the wedding since they became engaged last December, when Deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman) popped the big question to her on Twitter.

They have settled on an underwater-themed ceremony inspired by their favorite story, and they can promise it will be a unique experience for their guests.

“Drawing from their mutual love for H.P. Lovecraft's short story ‘The Call of Cthulhu,’ about a character that is half-man, half-octopus, Von D assures People that she and the electronic musician's ceremony will be ‘the furthest thing from traditional’,” the celebrity publication writes.

About 200 guests, friends and family, will join Kat and the DJ on their big day.

The reception will include blue- and green-colored food, while performers will be dressed as mermaids. Kat’s dress will match, of course.

“It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients. I didn't know the dress was supposed to be a surprise,” she says.

Her fiancé and future husband is lending a hand in designing the dress, the tattoo artist explains.

In the same interview, the two also talk about their excitement at the thought of spending the rest of their life together.

“Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing,” Kat gushes.

He adds, “Our wedding is merely a celebration of that love and commitment we live in already.”

Word that Kat and Deadmau5 were dating first emerged online last September. In December, they were engaged, but not before breaking up once and trashing each other on Twitter.
