The supermodel stars in a luxurious photo shoot with a distinctive vintage feel

Those among us who were quick to point out the fact that international style icon Kate Moss was losing ground in favor of younger, more rebellious models (think the new British supermodel of the day Agyness Deyn) should nevertheless admit that at least for now, the revival of the "old school" supermodel trend gives Moss a visible advantage. Along with her good pal Naomi Campbell and the likes of Claudia Schiffer or Eva Herzigova, Kate is still as much "in" as ever, being featured in several high-profile ad campaigns for the coming fall.

One place where Moss is definitely at home is Donna Karan's world of couture and accessories. She graced the brand's spring/summer ad campaign, and now the British diva is making a sophisticated comeback, modeling DK's fall winter 2008/09 campaign. The shoot, which took place at the Union Train Station in Los Angeles and was led by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, features Moss dressed in a luxurious purple coat, sitting on a suitcase and showing off two of the brand's black patent leather handbags.

The photos are slightly dark and the atmosphere is at the same time mellow and mysterious, centered on Moss' powerfully feminine presence, the only splash of color in a vintage, nostalgic world. Karan herself admitted that this shoot aimed to evoke the former glamor of the orient Express. "There's a romantic classicism, a little darkness, an Eastern European kind of decadence. She was on a train? on the go, but feels intimate [...] at the same time. It's about the woman on the go. We wanted the shots to be more about the woman and how the bag is working with her", she explained.
