Rep puts rumors to rest: Kate Gosselin’s TLC show “Twist of Kate” has not been canceled

Sarah Palin’s new reality show “Alaska” made a killing when it premiered on TLC the other week, so it’s not much of a wonder that rumors are already making the rounds that Kate Gosselin’s television career may be over. Not so fast, says her rep.

Over the weekend, reports began pouring in that Kate’s new reality show, “A Twist of Kate,” in which the focus is no longer on her as a single mother of 8, had been canned.

The network, it was being said, wanted to focus more on Sarah Palin and was thus ditching its former “goose with the golden eggs,” Kate Gosselin, believing her time had dawned.

Us Magazine has learned that that’s far from the case: Kate Gosselin remains on TV and the show will go on scheduled. Moreover, talk of a battle in the ratings between Palin and Gosselin has been widely exaggerated.

“Kate Gosselin fans everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief. Her new TLC show, Twist of Kate, is not canceled, a rep confirms to Us Magazine,” the publication writes.

“Twist of Kate follows the single reality TV mom, 35, as she visits and helps families facing obstacles,” Us Magazine says. It’s Kate’s second show, since she’s also in “Kate Plus 8,” the follow-up to the widely popular “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” which also included her ex husband.

“As it turns out, the flurry of rumors about the show getting the axe due to poor ratings are ‘100 percent not true,’ the rep tells Us,” the mag further notes.

As we also reported the other week, the season premiere for Sarah Palin’s “Alaska” scored huge ratings, with estimates saying the numbers will not be diminishing considerably anytime too soon.

About 5 million viewers stayed glued to their television sets to check out Palin’s show, which marked a new record for a series debut on TLC, thus topping any previous premiere from the Gosselin clan.
