Kate Gosselin is coming back to television, and this time, she wants to make sure there are no misunderstandings where she’s concerned. Before the premiere of season 7 of The Celebrity Apprentice, which was shot earlier this year, she makes it clear that she’s no drama-starter.

But stepping on her toes wouldn’t be a good idea either.

In a new interview with Us Weekly, the mother of 8 talks about what must be one of the biggest misconceptions about her, namely that she’s an evil woman who’s only looking to cause trouble wherever she goes.

She’s not a drama-starter, but she’s no pushover either

Since before her divorce from Jon Gosselin, which turned out to spell the end of the successful trajectory in reality television for both, Kate has always been portrayed in the media and by the fans as the evil witch few people could actually stand / love.

She never denied feeling a certain urge to control everything happening around her, but with 8 noisy kids to raise, that kind of thing comes with the territory. Neither did she deny that she could be strict, insisting only that she was so whenever the situation required it.

If you thought this translated into her being the B-word, think again.

“I am a strong personality,” Kate says on the topic of the competition on the show. “But I think what definitely will come out here is that I'm not a pot stirrer, I'm definitely not a drama-starter. Drama gets in the way of getting work done... And, you know, that's probably going to be surprising to a lot of people. Clearly there's a lot of drama in my life caused by others, but I'm in the business – instead of stirring it – of calming it down and putting on the lid.”

In other words, all those saying that she was a horrible, mean, and inflexible person based on what they’ve seen on the show so far and what they’ve been reading in the press are about to be proven wrong with this new series.

Kate Gosselin has “business-running personality”

In the same interview, Mrs. Gosselin explains why she was a perfect fit for The Celebrity Apprentice: because she got to do in front of the camera basically what she does every day of her life. Kate is a wearer of many hats and she had to learn, out of necessity more than anything else, how to do stuff that other women may never learn.

She says that, at home, she’s “secretary, personal assistant, president, accountant,” and pretty much everything else she needs to be in order to “run a ship home.” Once on the show, she just channeled all this with another purpose.

Kate Gosselin could become reality TV queen again

With the nasty split and subsequent divorce from Jon Gosselin, Kate was at the receiving end of a lot of criticism for anything from the way she behaved around Jon and the way she handled the split, to her parenting skills and her alleged desire to keep herself in the spotlight – not for the sake of the kids, but because she simply loved the attention so much.

In time, her career as a reality star took a nosedive, which was to be expected considering her dwindling popularity. All that could change soon: this summer, TLC aired a 2-part special with her and the kids, aimed to help fans catch up with what had been happening in their lives since they were last seen on TV.

It didn’t exactly make a killing in the ratings, but the interest was there; so Kate got another series, on the same network. With that and The Celebrity Apprentice to put her back in the spotlight, it wouldn’t be that far-fetched to imagine she might be getting her dream comeback after all.
