14 DAY TRIAL // Kate Gosselin is now a single woman, after her divorce from Jon Gosselin was pronounced final over the weekend. As a single woman, the mother of eight and former star of her own reality show on TLC, Mrs. Gosselin did the 10 @ 10 segment on Jay Leno, where the talk show host pays a visit via satellite feed to a celebrity and asks 10 of the weirdest questions.
For Kate, these included which was her biggest fear, which reality show she’d like to see herself on and to name 10 television series that were located in hospitals, on the grounds that she was a former nurse and should know these things. Because of a delay with the feed, some of Mrs. Gosselin’s answers seemed out of place, which has prompted many a US media outlet, including the Baltimore Sun and TMZ, to say that she clearly did not have a future in television.
The Baltimore Sun, for one, is convinced that Kate has nothing of the “it” factor necessary to carry a television show, as she’s repeatedly expressed a desire to do so in the past. The e-zine even goes on to say that Mrs. Gosselin should have found a way to work around the delay between what Leno said and she heard – and clearly to have put more effort in coming across as authentic, since her answers seemed incredibly scripted and fake.
“After her appearances as a guest host of The View, I said she was not quick enough on her feet, or to be blunt about it, smart enough to carry a TV show. Walking around the house and bossing her kids and Jon around with a reality TV camera trailing behind is not the same as trying to host a talk show. Heck, it doesn’t even require the talent it takes to be a guest on a talk show as Kate proved Friday night. You don’t have to be a genius to do daytime talk. Look at Regis Philbin. But you can’t be as out of it as Kate was with Jay Leno Friday either. She either laughed stupidly or gave strange answers to almost everything he said. And she was always several beats behind,” the Baltimore Sun writes.
TMZ agrees on that Kate Gosselin has absolutely no future in showbiz, though it’s less generous when it comes to explaining why. “With her appearance on that Jay Leno thing last night, we can now say with 100% certainty Kate Gosselin has absolutely no on-camera talent whatsoever... beyond yelling at children, of course,” the paparazzi agency / celebrity gossip website writes.
