She and Jeff Prescott have been dating since October

Kate Gosselin’s entire business empire is built around the idea that she’s a single mother of 8 kids, who somehow manages to be there for them when they need her and find the time to glam up like the celebrity she is. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that she doesn’t want to be thought of as off the market.

Especially not if this entails her hanging on the arm of a millionaire. So she’s denying reports that she and Jeff Prescott are engaged.

Not engaged, not even dating

Not only is Kate shutting down talk of a possible upcoming wedding ceremony, but she’s also denying that she’s dating Jeff - or any other man, for that matter. You can see her tweet on the topic below, at the end of the article.

This comes after countless reports that she and Jeff have been an item since October last year, with things heating up considerably in recent months. Jeff is also a father of 3 (and a divorcee), so he and Kate’s 8 kids with ex-husband Jon Gosselin got along famously from the first day they met.

Almost one month ago, the two were spotted and photographed together again, this time on a date at Talula’s Garden in Philadelphia. Reports said that Jeff picked her up from her Pennsylvania home and that dinner was only the beginning of a very romantic date, which ended in the early hours of next morning.

If what Kate’s saying about being single is true, then probably they’re just excellent friends.

Kate and Jon’s custody war is still raging

Kate might have another reason to try and deceive the public on the status of her relationship with Jeff: her legal disputes with her ex-husband Jon are far from over.

The two separated in 2009 and things turned nasty immediately after that, with Jon claiming that their 8 kids were being exploited and traumatized by being in front of the camera at all times.

He sought to get them off the TLC show that had launched them all to international fame, Jon & Kate Plus 8, but he only managed to get himself fired and banned from the production. The series became Kate Plus 8 and continued for another while, before being pulled for disappointing ratings.

The Gosselins might have slipped off the radar for some time, but Jon and Kate never fixed their relationship: he would regularly threaten to sue for custody and do interviews in which he accused Kate of being the mother from hell.

Earlier this year, news broke that he would seek full custody of just one of the kids, 11-year-old Hannah, who complained to him of cruel treatment at the hands of her mother.
