The Amanda Knox case is far from closed but that’s not stopping the industry from making another movie inspired by it, this time for the big screen. “The Face of an Angel” has just filled another position in the principal cast: Kate Beckinsale.

Knox is now being retrialed for the murder of British student Meredith Kercher, of which she was initially found guilty. Four years into the sentence, it was overturned and she returned back home in America.

Beckinsale doesn’t play Knox but a journalist who’s keeping an eye on the case, trying to get to the bottom of the mystery, Deadline reports. Speculation online claims that Beckinsale might play Barbie Latza Nadeau, who wrote the book “Angel Face,” on which the film is based.

“Kate Beckinsale is set to join Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne in The Face Of An Angel, a drama that Michael Winterbottom will direct from a script by Paul Viragh,” Deadline adds.

BBC Films is backing the project, which is set to go into production in Italy soon.
