As she's preparing to take over big screens from all over the world in the latest installment of “Underworld,” Kate Beckinsale is doing the media rounds to promote. In the latest issue of Redbook, she talks of how far she'd go to give believability to a character.

In other words, Kate answered the frequently asked question of whether she'd be willing to bare it all for the camera.

Like many other actresses before her, she says she's not opposed to the idea. Of course, she underlines, said scene would have to fit right in and not seem forced.

At the same time, Kate is also painfully aware of the kind of media attention such a scene would generate: attention that wouldn't necessarily translate into more interest for the film.

“I think it’s worse nowadays, because you do something like that and somebody immediately makes a five-times as long feature on YouTube to rock music, and they play it over and over again,” she tells the magazine.

“I’m not averse to doing a nude scene, but it would have to be something I felt I could really argue for in front of my daughter, and so far that hasn’t happened,” she says.

Speaking of her daughter Lily, she was also the reason Kate has been out of the spotlight until just recently. She wanted to take some time off to just be with her family, she says.

“I was at home. We’ve got a kind of unconventional family situation, with two dads, and I’ve always been the constant parent, the one who is here. Even if I’m working, it’s me,” Kate explains.

“So if anything ripples the water, then it’s important to be home. My daughter is about to be 13, and I realize how fleeting time is. I was happy to be around Lily to talk about her day when she got home,” she adds.

As we also informed you a while back – and as diehard fans must surely know by now – Kate will reprise her role as the vampire Selene in the latest “Underworld” installment, “Awakening.”

The film is out in the first month of 2012.
