One of the first hexa-core smartphones announced in India, the Karbonn Titanium Hexa, has yet to make its debut on the market. However, it appears that the Indian OEM took its time to release the handset in order to secure an exclusivity deal with Amazon India.

According to AndroidOS, Karbonn Titanium Hexa will be available for pre-order beginning May 13 for Rs 16,990 outright, which is about $285 or €205.

The hexa-core smartphone was officially announced by Karbonn back in March, but it took the Indian company almost two months to even make it available for pre-order.

For the time being, it’s unclear when exactly the Titanium Hexa will hit shelves, but those who wish to pre-order the smartphone can do so exclusively via Amazon India.

“We are very excited to offer our latest Titanium Hexa exclusively on www.amazon.in. It reiterates our confidence in e-tailing in India. Through this exclusive offer we will be able to get instant access to our customers across the length and breadth of the country and in turn customers will get a convenient buying experience,” said ShashinDevsare, executive director, Karbonn Mobiles.

As the name suggests, the handset is powered by a hexa-core MediaTek MT9591 processor, which is supported by 2GB of RAM. It also packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Karbonn Titanium Hexa boasts a hyper-vibrant 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. On the back, there’s an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and full HD (1080p) video recording.

There’s also a secondary camera on the front for video calls and a decent 2050 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

And the good news is Karbonn Titanium Hexa will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. The Indian OEM has also confirmed it will preload the Amazon shopping app on the Titanium Hexa, as well as other Android smartphones such as Octane and Octane Plus.

We will keep an eye out for any details regarding the exact release date of the hexa-core smartphone, so stay tuned for more on this one.

“We are very excited to partner with Karbonn to offer the Amazon mobile shopping app to its customers and making the latest smartphone Titanium Hexa available exclusively on www.amazon.in.

“Both of these add to our vision of offering customers in India a unique and wide selection of products on our platform and delighting them with a seamless, convenient, and a globally trusted mobile shopping experience.” said Amit Agarwal, VP and country manager, Amazon India.
