Proving that there’s very little he can’t do if he sets his mind to it, rapper Kanye West is reportedly preparing to launch his own – and very first – line of women’s clothes at the New York Fashion Week.

At Coachella 2011, the rapper rocked the stage wearing a colorful shirt that attracted attention from the international media, mostly because it was a woman’s shirt, as the Daily Mail points out.

Perhaps he was just trying to get in touch with his feminine side in order to come up with a line that will break records in sales. Perhaps he was just experimenting.

Bottom line is that Kanye is said to have joined forces with a few British designers, who are helping him put the finishing touches to his first line of women’s clothing, just in time to showcase it at the New York Fashion Week.

“He has womenswear on the mind as he is rumored to be debuting a collection at New York Fashion Week this year,” the Daily Mail writes, citing ongoing reports.

“He has enlisted the help of British knitwear designer Louise Goldin and St Martins professor Louise Wilson to give him lessons, Grazia Daily today revealed,” the publication further says.

Apparently, all the work is being done at the design studios Kanye has in London and New York. The report also says he’s very involved in the creation process.

Then again, word that Kanye might go into fashion officially is not that surprising, since he’s always a fixture in the front row at fashion shows, and has already tried his hand at designing scarves.

“The range included the cover of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which he eventually had to withdraw after it was deemed too graphic. He was also a fashion columnist for online magazine Complex,” the Mail notes.

The publication also says that, if his music videos are anything to go by, Kanye will attempt to shock and stir up controversy with his first women’s clothing line as well.
