Kanye West and his over-inflated sense of worth make headlines whenever something happens that doesn’t sit well with him. For instance, MTV recently released a top 10 Hottest MCs, ranking Kanye at number 7 – and he was none too pleased about it.

The rapper called in on New York City’s Hot 97 shortly after the list came out (minus the top 3 positions, which are yet to be released, going guns a-blazing after MTV for hating on him for being too popular, too fashionable and too trendy.

Whoever comprised it certainly did not pay attention to the other releases on the market to put him at number 7, Kanye said, as cited by Us Weekly.

“I feel like for them to put me at No. 7, they had to bring up things they didn’t like, like they didn’t like Cruel Summer album. And I’m, like, ‘That’s a compilation. It’s not all rappers on [it]’,” Kanye argued.

That doesn’t change the fact that “Cruel Summer” was poorly received. ‘Ye insists that no other album released this year has tracks as solid as “Mercy” and “Clique.”

Unfortunately, as he sees it, MTV wasn’t about the music in making this list.

“What happens with these type of things and the people that review it, when I come in and I have the pink polo and the backpack, I’m checking all the boxes of that A Tribe Called Quest era and all that, so they want to champion it,” he says.

“They don’t like Givenchy Kanye. They don’t like Kanye in a kilt, they don’t like Kanye in a relationship,” Givenchy Kanye adds.

He also says that “Cold,” which he wrote for Kim Kardashian’s estranged husband Kris Humphries, is unmatched by other records right now.

Before Kanye on the hot MCs list are Big Sean, Drake, Nas and Rick Ross. The top 10 closes with A$AP Rocky, Future and Meek Mill.
