There was a time when Kanye West would do everything in his power to prevent reporters from asking him any personal questions but he’s changed a lot since the birth of his daughter North, to girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Nowhere is that more obvious than in his new interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.

Kanye was on Lowe’s show to promote his most recent album “Yeezus” and his upcoming world tour, and, of course, the topic of his new family did come up in relation to his plans for the future as regards his music career.

Asked if he’s taking a break from his many projects, Kanye is honest: family life is his time off.

“It's like family time. It's what Kim gave me. She gave me everything. She gave me a family. She gave me a support system,” he says.

As for what made Kim special in his eyes before they started dating, that was the fact that she was financially independent, i.e. no golddigger.

“She was in a powerful enough situation where she could love me without asking me for money, which is really hard for me to find,” the rapper explains.

In the same interview, he tackles the topic of the unwanted paparazzi attention he and Kim are getting. Right now, Kanye is being accused of assault by a photographer he attacked at the airport, with his attorney arguing it was in self-defense.

He doesn’t say how, but he plans to make it impossible for paparazzi to take photos of celebrities whenever they want and by whichever method they deem fit, without having to answer to anyone because they’re on public property.

“I'm changing things for my daughter. I'm going to tell my daughter, by the time she understands what it was, ‘Man, me and your mother were in a completely different situation than you're in. People could take pictures, people could climb over your fence, and you wouldn't even get paid for it. You see all these checks that you getting at age 6 because people are taking your picture? You don't have to worry about a thing ever again just because people wanted to take your picture. And I made that happen, Nori.’ That's what I'm gonna tell her,” Kanye explains.

And with that, he confirmed an older rumor that he and Kim decided on calling North Nori.
