His VMA outburst, when he interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech to speak up for Beyonce, who had “the best video of all time,” ended up costing him dearly. Upset and ashamed, the rapper is said to be seeking refuge, guidance and, ultimately, improvement in India, as MSNBC's The Scoop informs.
Sources close to Kanye say that, while he might have a reputation for doing some of the dumbest things on Earth, he is not stupid and has come to see the error of his ways. He knows he can’t return to the spotlight soon and he knows he needs to do more than just apologize to get back in the good graces of the public, insiders whisper to the media. Consequently, he’s come up with the idea of a trip to India, with the ultimate purpose of emerging as a new man, one that has learned from his mistakes and that is, therefore, a better person.
“Kanye might do some dumb things, but he’s smart. He knows he needs to come back from this break changed, and that isn’t going to happen at some rehab overlooking the ocean. He goes to India, he has a chance to come back seeming like he learned something from what happened.” an unnamed source tells The Scoop. Speculation as to West’s whereabouts started building up when he failed to show up for this year’s edition of the BET Awards, where he was nominated in nine distinct categories.
The same sources, who claim to be very reliable in all things Kanye, also tell the media that, while the rapper is still blogging, he’s not to emerge from his hiding anytime soon. In fact, this was the very reason why he canceled the tour he was scheduled to do with Lady Gaga, because he wants the public to know that he’s taking time out for a breather and to think about what happened in his life and culminated with the VMA outburst.
As for what Kanye might be doing in India, StyleCaster may have the answer. “Apparently, [apologizing] has not been enough for Kanye West to reconcile his own personal dissonance. Alas, Kanye is heading to a Hindu ashram in Pindicherry, India to gain a little perspective. Kanye will reside in the ashram for a month practicing a variety of activities including yoga and religious instruction to learn more about morality.” the publication writes. A rep for Kanye was not immediately available for comment.
