14 DAY TRIAL // We should now be referring to them as Mr. and Mrs. Kanye West, but Kim Kardashian has maintained on several occasions that she plans on keeping her name, which is like a brand these days. Kanye seems to acknowledge that as he is rumored to have gifted his new bride a portrait of herself painted by London artist Bambi.
The Daily Star claims it found out from a source close to the couple who said “It's the first non-narcissistic thing Kanye has done because he specifically didn't want to be in the painting himself. He says he wants Kim looking as much like a princess as possible.”
Don't ask us how much the painting cost, but you can bet your lunch money for the rest of the year, that it wasn't very cheap. Kanye is known to splash out on gifts for Kim and all the more on those that involve art.
Over time, he's been rumored to have gifted Kim with a Warhol portrait which ended up costing several hundred thousands of dollars, as well as a hand-painted Birkin bag for Christmas, which also set him back a pretty penny.
This time too he's making objections over money, “Kanye has said he doesn't care how much the painting costs. This is likely to be Bambi's biggest sale to date,” adds the source.
Most likely, the picture will hang in the couple's new home which is still undergoing extensive renovations. In fact, their luxury home has already eaten up several millions of dollars and yet it's not close to being finished, despite the fact that it's been in the process of overhauling since last year.
The main reason for that is Kanye's artistic temper which has moments of flaring. Several reports have indicated that the rapper has scrapped plans several times, only to start all over again, with a completely different idea. Among the most outrageous things rumored by the tabloids were solid gold toilets in their bathroom for Kim and Kanye.
We'll have to keep an eye out to see when the happy couple is going to move into their new dream mansion, but for the moment, they're busy enjoying a romantic yet brief honeymoon in Ireland.
The couple are said to have rented out a whole exclusive medieval manor in the Irish countryside for a five-day respite after the wedding. Of course, since they wanted to be all by themselves, they left behind their young daughter North, and jetted with just a few members of their entourage.
It's better that way, especially since both partners have expressed their interest in using this time alone in their honeymoon to work on having their second baby.
