One small, cheap player. One pocket of SD cards

We've had a small debate here on how cool the KanaSD player is; obviously, we weren't able to reach a firm conclusion: some say that KanaSD simply rocks beyond a lot of higher-class, more expensive, more pretentious players, while others just say it's dumb... Now, I was among those who had a rather milder approach to this problem as I thought that an MP3 player without a memory is one stupid thing, but at the same time, being absolutely free to load anything from anywhere is a very cool feature.

In other words, this is what KanaSD is and does: we're talking some sort of memoryless music player which acts like a dock for DS cards. Namely, the KanaSD does not have any memory of itself whatsoever so unless you've got some music on an SD card, it's useless. Nevertheless, here come two neat things. First of all, the absence of any type of memory in the KanaSD, be that flash or hard drive, keeps the price quite low - indeed the announced price for KanaSD in Japan is around $27, which simply rocks!

Secondly, we're speaking a very nice feeling of freedom, as you can technically use someone else's SD card in your player, thus being able to change the music. Even cooler, you can actually take the SD card off from your phone and start enjoying the music more as it should be enjoyed, without the limitations of the mobile terminals.

Now, those who say that the KanaSD is not at all that nice objected that you should carry some SD cards in your pocket so that you have serious amounts of music ready to be played in this device (the KanaSD, not the pocket). Well, dear friends, as long as the KanaSD supports up to 8GB cards, who could friggin' want more? I mean, when are you going to listen to 8 GB of music?

Before letting you choose whether the KanaSD is cool or not, just some additional info: it comes in black and white, it sports all common commands met on similar gear, it runs on USB 2.0 and SDHC cards.
