The KOffice Team announced yesterday the latest release of the well-known office suite. Among the changes this version brings, there are: some modifications in KPresenter, plenty of improvements in KWord,  and also a few adjustments to Krita and Karbon.

Following the idea of the previous alpha versions, KOffice 2.0 Alpha 10 only aims to offer a preview of the new ideas and technologies of the KOffice 2.0 series. Another important aspect is that KOffice 2.0 will probably not provide all the features whose foundation is set in this alpha release.

KOffice 2.O is under development at the moment and, therefore, it isn't recommended you use it for real tasks as it can fail at anytime. This alpha release features important changes in many areas including the infrastructure, and numerous bug fixes and new features.

KPresenter is again a presentation application, now featuring new and more efficient ways of viewing slide sets.

KWord has benefited from much work, and now includes plenty of improvements on character styles, page and paragraph. Selecting a style for your text has been greatly simplified by introducing a new hierarchical style docker. Other actions have been facilitated as well by this new tool, like selecting the background and foreground style of all shapes.

Krita and Karbon can now offer a better drawing toolkit, as a new brush engine has been implemented, with the purpose of allowing Chinese brush painting, or simply an extra tool that may come in handy.

For a full reference to the new additions of this release, please see the official Changelog.

Included in this release are the following applications:

· KWord (a full-featured word processor); · KSpread (a spreadsheet application); · KPresenter (a presentation application); · KPlato (a new project management application); · Krita (a pixel-based paint and image editing application); · Karbon14 (a vector-drawing application); · KChart (an additional full-featured charting engine).
