A photo of a KKK meeting from 1924 has been awarded a blue ribbon at a fair in Ohio. Once the organizers received a complaint about the photo being insensitive, the owner was stripped of the prize.

Dayton Daily News wrote about the Greene County Fair fiasco. The photo competed in the antique adult group category with an image showing the “September 1924 Dayton Ku Klux Klan rally.”

“Dayton Klan 23, Realm-of-Ohio, September, 27, 1924” is written by hand on the image. The owner has not been identified.

“We stripped the first-place placing and we have removed the photo from the fairgrounds,” says Jeff Barr, Greene County Agricultural Society director.

Barr added that they pulled the prize because they didn't want anyone to think that the Fair was associated with the message sent by the image.
