The KDE Project developers have just released the second maintenance version of Applications and Platform 4.13, and it's accompanied, as usual, by numerous fixes and improvements.

The KDE developers are sticking to the schedule and have just launched the second update for the latest 4.13.x branch of their KDE Applications and Platform. This update is just as big as the first one, and KDE users should expect a new version in their repositories pretty soon.

Usually, only the first KDE build in the new series comes with new features and options. All other subsequent releases are only for maintenance and the developers use them to push fixes and smaller changes.

“KToday KDE released updates for its Applications and Development Platform, the second in a series of monthly stabilization updates to the 4.13 series. This release also includes an updated Plasma Workspaces 4.11.10. Both releases contain only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone.”

“More than 40 recorded bugfixes include improvements to Personal Information Management suite Kontact, Umbrello UML Modeller, the Desktop search functionality, web browser Konqueror and the file manager Dolphin,” reads the official announcement.

The developer has also explained that this version is a little different from the previous ones because it comes with a more specific fix for Kopete, which include a decrease in the exit time of Kopete with enabled statistics plugin, a fix for the compilation of jabber libjingle for non x86 architectures, and another change for voice call support.

According to the developers, “Add to custom colors” now works in the KDE color selector widget, Ark no longer crashes when it's closed during large archive loading, the test case now works if UA has been changed to Firefox, the print preview no longer displays the postscript code, users can now get hover feedback for the “+” sign, a Kopete OTR crash that occurred during chat has been fixed, and a Dolphin crash in Networking has been repaired.

Also, Kate no longer crashes when editing C++ files, the Dolphin search no longer fails to follow links in 4.13.0, passwords with the character " are now accepted, a missing menu from the start screen has been fixed, Kontact no longer crashes on logout, and much more.

More details about this build and the changes in the 4.13 branch can be found in the official announcement, which, as usual, also comes with a number of updated packages and a few other smaller changes. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications and Development Platform 4.13.2 sources right now from Softpedia.
