Also known as Kanzler

KDE 3.5 beta 1, also known as Kanzler, offers numerous improvements and changes. One of the novelties is the rewriting of the task bar for application launching, called KDE Kicker, which can be personalized according to the user's preferences. In addition, it has more options related to the display mode: Classic, Elegant or Transparency.

In addition, in Kicker, users can also manage applets with the help of the new applet system, inspired from Gnome.

The integration of the Konqueror browser has been optimized; from now, the application will display only options related to web browsing, when the user is surfing the Internet. If Konqueror is used to browse through folders, then it will display options related to their properties.

Just like Firefox, Konqueror has now a toolbar for web searching, which allows quick selection of the favorite search engine.

A SMN (Store Media Notification) system has been implemented in KDE 3.5 Beta 1; when the user introduces an optic media or a USB stick, it will display an window with several options (such as Open, Play Media or Do Nothing).

The full version of KDE 3.5 should appear in this year's October, but we might have the 4.0 version at the end of 2005.

So far, the KDE 3.5 Beta 1 version is available for download here , and it has been certified by Softpedia as being 100% CLEAN.
