KDDI, one of the major Japanese carriers has just released on its official website the entire catalog of scheduled devices that are to be launched by the network operator during winter 2010 and spring 2011. While these may not be interesting news for Europeans or North Americans, at least we can compare “stats” and see where we're at.

At first look, the carrier's offering planned for the near future seems impressive in size, and in quality as well.

The CDMA-network operator has shown no less than 14 feature-phones, 3 smartphones and 2 iida “designer phones”, which he plans to launch in Q4 2010 and Q1 2011.

Even though some of the devices look really impressive spec-wise, I expected that, taking into consideration that the Japanese handset manufacturers are way ahead technologically compared with other “mundane” handset makers.

Further, Japanese manufactures and carriers are testing technologies that we, the Europeans, might never be able to implement in our mobile devices.
