The last album to come from Justin Timberlake hit music stores in 2006 and, despite being a massive hit, it looks like it won’t be getting a follow-up anytime in the near future. Currently enjoying airplay and media coverage thanks to his latest collaborations (T.I and Ciara), Justin is not really looking forward to going back in the studio and working on a new material for himself, as the star himself admits in a new interview with EW.

Justin explains his change of heart regarding recording new tracks by saying that he is simply not feeling like working on a solo material right now, in more or less words.

Doing so would require too much time, time that he does not have since he is busy with producing young artists and even putting together a reality show / competition series for MTV. Not being committed to a single major project also helps Timberlake focus on more projects at once, the singer believes.

“Right now, I like the idea that things can just kind of pop up and if they feel right I can do them. Committing to my own sort of project, that’s like, ‘Okay, let me block out two years of my life and do it.’ I was heavily fulfilled with the last one and I always have this thing with myself that if I can’t sleep because I need to do it, then I’m gonna do it. But if I’m not losing sleep over it then…” Timberlake tells the aforementioned e-zine about what’s stopping him from making another album.

However, when he does decide to go back in the studio on his own, fans will certainly be surprised at the outcome. Those familiar with the sound Timberlake has become popular with after leaving ‘N Sync will be shocked to find out that he has gone the rock’n’roll way, as Justin hints. Apparently, while he’s not truly working on a new album, he has been giving it a thought or two these past months, as one might conclude from his words, since he suggests that his current iPod playlist might be an indication as to what fans should expect.

“I mean, I listen to everything. I’ve been going back and forth between Kings of Leon’s latest album and the Black Keys. I really love their Attack and Release. I thought that was a really great record. And of course Radiohead. It’s a constant. I enjoy In Rainbows in the morning. You throw it on in the iPod dock and get ready to leave the house and go on about your day. That album seems to put me in a pretty decent mood.” Timberlake concludes by saying.
