The reason we haven't been getting any news on Justin Bieber is because he's currently on vacation with his mom, in Japan. That's all well and fine, but the trouble is that Justin was supposed to appear in court this week, as he had a scheduled hearing in his DUI case, stemming from his arrest in Miami this January.

As you can see, the Canadian pop singer has better things to do than show up in court, even if he's a wanted man in Miami, and his very freedom is at stake. E! Online is reporting that, while Justin is busy treating his mom Pattie Mallette and a friend to a trip in Japan, his lawyers are hard at work to get a delay in the trial.

Bieber's legal team filed papers with the Miami court yesterday, in an effort to postpone the upcoming trial. Still, a meeting between the lawyers and Miami prosecutors is scheduled to take place today, and a court judge is going to decide if he's going to reschedule the 20-year-old's May 5 trial date.

The Miami State Attorney told the press that “I have since learned that the defense has indicated that they need more time to prepare and investigate their case. The State has no objections to the desire for a continuance.”

This means that it's all up to the judge if the trial is pushed forward, but all signs point there will be no problem in this respect, and Justin can enjoy his quality time with his mother on the other side of the world.

The trial is linked to his by-now-famous arrest on January 23, when police officers took him into custody and charged him with DUI, drag racing, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest. Later, drugs tests showed that he had had marijuana in his system, as well as anti-anxiety drugs that he said had been provided to him by his mother.

But he's at the moment literally a world away from those troubles now, as his Instagram account is showing. There, Justin keeps posting photos from his Japanese trip which, admittedly, looks like a lot of fun.

Meanwhile, back in the United States, a petition signed by over 275,000 people to deport the singer to his native Canada, has been rejected by the White House. The official report refused to take the petition into account and said that the White House “won't be commenting.”

The statement followed with “So we'll leave it to others to comment on Mr Bieber’s case, but we’re glad you care about immigration issues. Because our current system is broken.”

Justin Bieber must be relieved.
