14 DAY TRIAL // Justin Bieber must be used to getting snubbed by big celebrities he tries to impress whenever they cross paths, but he’s also learning to toughen up and stand his ground when this happens to his face. So when Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones wanted to know who the eff he was when they met over New Year’s at an exclusive resort, Bieber responded the same way.
Few people would have the guts to ask Richards, who is a rock legend whose face and name everybody knows, “Who the [expletive] are you?!,” but Justin is among them, according to a new report in Us Weekly.
A chance meeting, initial hostility
Insiders reveal for the celebrity publication that Justin and Keith just so happened to spend New Year’s break at the same exclusive resort on the Parrot Cay island in Turks and Caicos. At one point, they met, and as he was throwing back a drink, “old guy” Richards asked Justin who he was.
Bieber must have learned something after his disastrous attempt to bro with Leonardo DiCaprio so they could party together at Cannes 2014, because his reply to Richards’ question was, “I don’t know, who the [expletive] are you?!,” as per the same insider.
This sounds like a scene from the movies, or better yet, like an incident that actually happened to Jay Z and a paparazzo in Paris last year, with the pap visibly confused that Jay Z was getting this much attention. That exchange was caught on camera (unlike this one), showing the rapper answering the paparazzo’s question “Who are you?” with exactly the same line now attributed to Bieber.
Apparently, to this, Richards replied, “You’re a man. I respect that.” Cut! End scene.
New buddies exchange contact information
Some time later, the report goes on to say, Bieber found out that the “old guy” was Keith Richards, when a friend of his showed up to ask him to come over for beers.
The hostilities didn’t end immediately, with Richards telling Bieber at one point, as he was trying to “bro down with him,” that “Let’s get one thing straight. You’re a wannabe.” Admittedly, Richards didn’t elaborate on that and Bieber didn’t ask him, even though he was probably offended by it.
Because all’s well that ends well, the two eventually got along just fabulously, bonding over beers and their long chat. At the end of it, they exchanged contact information, so that they may be able to keep in touch and do this again when they were in town.
Bieber was impressed with his new buddy and called it the “best night” of his life. We’re assuming anyone who’d get to chat and / or party with Richards would think the same.
