If you see #BieberRoast trending on social media, think not that it aired earlier than March 30, the date announced a while back. It’s just the taping of the event that’s getting people very excited - and from what we read online, they have every reason to be so.

Justin Bieber was roasted for Comedy Central over the weekend, with some of the biggest names in comedy (and not only) coming out to give the Canadian pop star a truly memorable 21st birthday present. Bieber himself was on hand, closing the Roast with an apology for his irresponsible behavior over the past year and a half.

Bieber is sorry

Footage from the Roast isn’t yet available, so you’ll just have to wait until March 30 to see some of the jokes that were made. However, from reports online, it looks like you will have to check your sensibilities at the door, because the roasters really held nothing back in giving Bieber a piece of their mind.

During the Roast, Bieber seemed to thoroughly enjoy some of the jokes, while others not so much. He also chipped in whenever he had the chance, with Variety considering this joke his best: What do you get when you give a teenager $200 million [€189.6 million]? A bunch of has-beens calling you a lesbian for 2 hours.”

At the end of the Roast though, Justin got all serious for a short while, using the time on stage to thank for the roast and to apologize for all the things he did in the past year and a half, which constituted material for all the jokes.

This included an arrest for drag racing and DUI, leaked videos showing him acting like a spoilt brat, wild partying around the globe, rumors of cheating on his former girlfriend Selena Gomez, and reports of despicable behavior towards anyone he deemed “inferior.”

As he did before in his most recent interviews with Ellen DeGeneres, he blamed this rotten behavior on becoming famous at too young an age and on not having proper guidance in life.

“There was really no preparing me for this life,” he said. “I was thrown into this at 12 years old, and I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. There’s been moments I’m really proud of and a lot of moments I look back and I’m pretty disappointed with myself for. But the things that I’ve done really don’t define who I am. I’m a kind-hearted person who loves people and, through it all, lost some of my best qualities. For that, I’m sorry. But what I can say is that I’m looking forward to being someone you can look at and be proud of.”

No joke was off limits

One joke that was repeated over and over again throughout the course of the evening was about Selena Gomez, who dated him on and off for almost 4 years. This was a reaction to fans begging roasters on social media to not touch the Selena topic, which naturally made them even more eager to do so.

Apparently, Justin didn’t really appreciate these jokes, E! News says. However, the one that really bothered him was the one about Paul Walker, when Pete Davidson said that Bieber was arrested last year for drag racing, but “unfortunately, it wasn’t with Paul Walker.”

The “Fast & Furious” star was killed in a one-vehicle crash in 2013.

Roasters included Kevin Hart, master of ceremonies, Davidson, Jeff Ross, Nathasha Leggero, Shaquille O’Neal, Snoop Dogg, Marth Stewart and Ludacris. Will Ferrell made a special appearance as Ron Burgundy, his “Anchorman” character.

The Justin Bieber Roast will air on Comedy Central on March 30.
