For some months now, Justin Bieber has been trying to get the world to pay attention to his new message: he’s no longer a teen who can’t really be taken seriously, he’s a grown man and expects to be treated as such.

Sitting down for an interview with Ryan Seacrest, he insists on the same, as the video below will confirm.

Of course, that Bieber is of age is extremely relevant in a context in which he’s looking to bring in new fans with his most recent album, “Believe,” and, at the same time, break away from his heartthrob image.

In fact, this is precisely the first thing that Bieber wants the world to know: his heartthrobbing days are long gone, musically speaking.

“I feel like I just don’t want to be another teen heartthrob. I just think that just annoys me. To think that’s what people will – will think of me – or, like, I just want to prove people wrong,” Justin tells Seacrest.

He is convinced “Believe” will be just the album to help him do that.

“My new album Believe has really showcased what I’m capable of – especially becoming an 18 year old, and becoming an adult,” Justin goes on to explain.

He hopes to surprise people in the most pleasant way possible, by getting them to like his music before they even know it’s him who’s singing on the record.

“And hearing older people say, ‘Wow, this new album’s great. Like I didn’t know that was Justin Bieber’,” he says.

In the same interview, Justin reveals his career goal is to win a Grammy, which is why he’s working so hard to release something new and unexpected with each album.

Bieber is now promoting “Believe” in Germany and, at the same time, is rehearsing for a world tour as well.
