Video game publisher Ubisoft has announced that it will sponsor the upcoming California Dreams tour that Katy Perry will take in the United Kingdom through its Just Dance brand, in an effort to promote the third title in the series.

The company has launched “Just Dance Your Way to Katy Perry”, a contest that challenges fans to record themselves and others dancing to the Just Dance version of “Firework”, the well known hit from Katy Perry.

Those who win will get VIP tickets to the concert they want and will also be able to go backstage in order to meet the singer.

Also those who attend the Katy Perry concerts will be able to play Just Dance 3 and see the singer engaging with the game just before she performs.

Mark Slaughter, who is the head of the marketing division working at Ubisoft, has commented, “This is a landmark sponsorship for Just Dance and demonstrates how this game has transcended its platform to become a hugely popular entertainment brand in the UK. The tour sponsorship of Katy Perry’s California Dreams Tour offers fans a chance to meet Katy Perry in person by playing Just Dance 2.”

He added, “Katy Perry is a hugely popular global music icon and Just Dance as a brand has had a strong connection with Katy Perry since the first Just Dance with her hits ‘Hot N Cold’ and in Just Dance 2 with ‘Firework’ featuring both in game and in advertising.”

Just Dance 3 will be launched on October 11 and will be playable on the Xbox 360 using the Kinect motion tracking system, on the PlayStation 3 using the Move and on the Nintendo Wii.

The series has been one of the music based video game that has managed to perform well during the last few years as series like Rock Band and Guitar Hero have floundered.
