The new open-world title has interesting cars

Just Cause 3, the next title in the open-world series from Avalanche Studios, includes mechanics fitting of a racing game for its cars so that players can use them as huge bullets in their destructive efforts, especially when coupled with the grapple system.

Just Cause titles have delivered some interesting experiences over the years, with big open worlds, lots of vehicles, and plenty of wacky, destruction-oriented mechanics. However, it soon became clear that getting around the world is much easier when you grapple onto other vehicles, instead of driving them around.

Just Cause 3 has fast cars and racing mechanics

In Just Cause 3, Avalanche brings a wingsuit to make getting around while in the air a bit easier. However, the actual cars are much faster than that, so that they stand a chance against the wingsuit and the grapple opportunities.

What’s more, the studio tells GamesRadar that the handling mechanics are just like a racing game but not to make Just Cause 3 compete with them. Instead, the main goal is to let players use the cars not just to get around but also as explosive bullets.

"The car is another tool for you to mess around with – you can put a bunch of C-4 on a car and jump it into a base. That could be the beginning of your epic base attack. There’s full deformation; hinged parts so cars break and parts move. The feel of it has a full racing engine underneath. We do shocks, downforce and things that you’d find in a full racing game. We’ve worked hard on the vehicle handling, because we want you to use vehicles as an awesome bullet," the studio explains.

As such, those who still like to drive cars from time to time in Just Cause should certainly be happy in the third installment, which launches this fall on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
