Well, PSW Magazine got their chance to score a preview of Just Cause 2, the sequel to Eidos' first third-person shooter/sandbox game, and there's some pretty exciting stuff in it too. For instance, side-missions are out, while there's a huge emphasis on free-roaming play. But why don't you just read on and find out everything there is to know about the upcoming Just Cause 2.

CVG grabbed a copy of PSW Magazine and here's what they found out:

"The original Just Cause offered an original take on the open world idea, here was a tropical island free to explore ... It was exhilarating. It was tremendous fun. It certainly wasn't 'real' [...] Thankfully the sequel is going to be bigger, broader and crazier," PSW magazine reads, according to CVG. "There's no sign of Eidos tethering Rico to anything as boring as realism. If anything, the added zap of PS3 power behind the game has enabled developer Avalanche to push its ideas further still."

As for the setting, nothing has changed much, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. After all, who wouldn't like free roaming on the "island of Panau, a tropical paradise in South East Asia ruled over by the ruthless dictator Baby Panay," according to the mag. "Rico's job is to infiltrate and destabilise the island and return with his former CO, Tom Sheldon, who has gone AWOL on the island and fallen in with Panay," PSW reports, referring to the gameplay.

An interview with Peter Johansson can also be found within the pages of PSW magazine. The man says they "identified the key areas [they] wanted to improve for Just Cause 2," mentioning that their goal was "to make better use of [their] huge game world, enhance the stunts, improve the combat and reward exploration more. [...] We feel we have been successful at that and created a true sequel," he added.

PSW says the story is pretty basic, as CVG informs. Nevertheless... "It's the island and the game's structure that holds the real surprises. Sitting above the familiar jungle canopy is a range of mountains covered in snow and ripe for playing around on," the mag states.

As for the dropping of side-missions, Johansson explains: "We've ditched the concept of side-missions [...] Freedom is something of a myth - again GTA we're looking at you. In Just Cause 2 freedom should be more of a reality. The side-missions are out. You'll begin the game with nothing but your Cuban heels and a winning smile."

Looking forward for more stuff on Just Cause 2? Sure you are, who isn't? Well, the first game didn't blow everyone's mind away but the sequel certainly sounds better. Oh, almost forgot. PlayStation 3 is the only platform they've confirmed Just Cause 2 for. Why? Just 'cause...!
