“Jurassic Park” is coming back: fourth installment will be out in the summer of 2014

Just hours ago, word got out that Steven Spielberg might be considering directing “Jurassic Park 4,” with fans debating the pros and cons of such a move. Confirmation comes now that Spielberg isn’t even in talks for the project.

But Colin Trevorrow (“Safety Not Guaranteed”) is. In fact, he’s already signed on for the gig, ScreenRant confirms.

“Universal and Amblin Entertainment have announced that Trevorrow will shoot the fourth Jurassic Park in 3D, which is a first for the lucrative sci-fi action/adventure franchise,” the e-zine notes.

With a release date set for the summer of 2014 (Universal is sure not taking its time with this one, is it?), word online has it that production on the next installment in the legendary franchise could start as early as April in Baton Rouge – as in, next month.

Also in April: the original “Jurassic Park” will be re-released in 3D in select theaters.
