Things are looking well for this MMO

The MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) market is huge, encompassing games like the very popular RPGs, shooters or sports ones and providing them, in some cases, with an extremely well-polished online experience.

Although fantasy based MMORPGs are currently dominating the market, with World of Warcraft having over 11 million subscribers, and Warhammer Online becoming more and more popular as time goes by, the space-themed MMO market is currently seeing a lot of new titles, each one trying to attract the players in any way possible.

Such is the case with Codemasters' upcoming MMO, entitled Jumpgate Evolution, which promises to deliver quality space-themed combat to both experienced and novice players. The company has just announced that over 150,000 people already signed up for a chance to play the Beta stage of the game. Players can still sign up on the official website of the game but, as time goes by, the chance to be selected to participate in the beta will get slimmer and slimmer.

"We are pleased to announce this exciting landmark for Jumpgate Evolution," commented Edward Relf, director, marketing, Codemasters Online. "Since the commencement of the BETA signup program three months ago, we have seen overwhelming support for the game and look forward to inviting players into the BETA in the coming months. We encourage everyone looking to get into BETA to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment."

The closed beta is set to kick off soon with players getting the chance to engage in realistic ship vs ship combat in outer space and the chance to become the best heroes in the Jumpgate universe. The game is slated for an early 2009 release so players who fancy a trip into outer space might want to enroll in this beta stage just to see what they will be playing next year.

It's definitely nice to see that gamers are still interested in new titles that haven't yet appeared or weren't heavily promoted. Let's just hope that this game will deliver a great experience and that the beta stage will bring valuable feedback to the developers.
