Julie Chen has admitted on The Talk, which she co-hosts, that she had plastic surgery when she was 25 years old. You can see her shocking revelation in the video above.

At the time, Chen was working as a local news reporter in Dayton, Ohio but she really wanted a chance to see if she could cut it as an anchor as well.

Her dreams were crushed when her producer told her that, because of her heritage, her eyes made her look as if she was bored when she was interviewing people.

So, no, she would never get to be anchor.

She sought an agent for career advice and he too (some big shot Chen refuses to name but of whom she says he’s worked with everyone who’s anyone in television) urged her to get work done to make her eyes look bigger, which, in turn, would make her more relatable on camera to non-Asian viewers.

Chen admits that she gave in and had double eyelid surgery, for which her parents paid.

She says she doesn’t regret the decision because there’s no sense in “looking back” especially now that things worked out so well for her.
