Julia Roberts has always been seen as the epitome of unconventional beauty, the effortless kind that was all the more endearing because it helped her female fans relate to her better. The star is again featured in the special Most Beautiful People issue of People magazine, with her stylist dishing out her makeup and beauty secrets, while also saying beauty is truly about attitude.

She’s 42 and she’s a mother of 3, but Julia is still as fresh faced and as charming as she was 20 years ago when she won a place in our hearts with her part in “Pretty Woman,” the publication says. Speaking with her makeup stylist and hairdresser, People has learned that Julia’s secret lies in never trying to be someone she’s not, while also learning to let some things to the professionals: like hair coloring, waxing and, of course, makeup.

“‘She’s never looked more beautiful,’ says Ryan Murphy, the director of her upcoming film, Eat, Pray, Love, based on the huge bestseller. ‘She is so happy and fulfilled and it shows.’[…] While Roberts still wows on her rare red-carpet appearances, her beauty team reveals that it never takes more than two hours to get her ready – even for the Oscars. ‘There is nothing contrived,’ says her longtime hairdresser Serge Normant. ‘She believes you have to be comfortable – you have to have a good time’,” People writes.

“Still, she does have a few beauty tricks up her sleeve. According to Genevieve, her makeup artist, Roberts uses a moisturizing tint (no heavy foundation – ever), followed by a creamy blush. ‘Her skin is amazing,’ says Genevieve. Then comes Roberts’ fave part: eyeliner – smudged and [hot]. ‘It’s something she can’t live without,’ notes Genevieve. Two coats of mascara, followed by a natural lip ‘not too shiny’ and she can put those 20-something starlets to shame,” the publication further says.

When she’s at home, things stand differently because, there, she’s no longer a star but a wife and mother first and foremost. According to People, should one chance to drop in on Julia on her me-time, one would find her without any makeup, her curls in a ponytail and most likely wearing yoga pants – for practical reasons, one would assume.
