What with Hollywood’s obsession with weight and the exact measures of a woman’s body, it’s no wonder that even one of the most famous actresses there can sometimes feel the pressure to lose the extra pounds. Yet, it’s not going to happen, Julia Roberts says in the latest issue of InTouch, as quoted by one US e-zine, because always maintaining her weight constant is the key to her long and successful career.

Speaking with the magazine about what it meant to go back to work on set just six months after giving birth, Julia admits that, even for her, the pressure can be huge occasionally. However, no matter how much she might have tried once to lose weight and be as slim as the other female stars out there, she never quite succeeded, which is why she eventually gave up and just settled for what she had.

“To be honest, I was kind of panicking.” Julia responds when asked about whether she felt confident about her body when she started shooting “Duplicity” with Clive Owen, her latest film. “I was still nursing him in my trailer, but I felt very supported by the director and Clive. You have a baby, and you just want to stay home in your elastic waistband pants.” the actress further explains.

The fact that the rest of Hollywood women seem to be getting slimmer and slimmer by the day – or the more famous they become – has only added to this feeling of insecurity about her body, Julia points out. This is how she has come to believe that her weight works like some sort of “secret power” when it comes to her career. “I know! I look the same. I guess that’s my staying power. My fighting weight. That is a strange thing that happens. People get wildly famous and they get incredibly slim. It never happened to me, no matter how hard I tried!” Roberts adds.

Two other things that make Julia even more lovable with the regular public is her confessed love for food (“I have always been a friend of food”) and her determination to lead a healthy life. In this sense, the actress also works out whenever she has the time, although, just recently, that has not happened as often as she would have liked. “I do [work out], but working full-tie and being a mom full-time, something got to fall. Or fall down!” Julia concludes by saying, with that amazing smile she has.
