Later this year, the drama / thriller “The Secret in Their Eyes,” with Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor, will open in theaters in various territories. The film is now post-production, but juicy bits of gossip on the drama from behind the camera are just starting to leak online.

Apparently, Julia hates Nicole because she has seen with her own eyes how much of a diva she can be.

“Her Majesty” treats crew like “peasants”

The story comes via The National Enquirer, so that in itself should serve as warning that you must take it with a grain of salt. Apparently, on-set sources claim that, shortly after she started working with Nicole, Julia dubbed her “Her Majesty” because she always carried herself as if she was royalty and everybody else were “peasants.”

“Julia HATES the way Nicole treats the crew! She acts like they’re servants, and doesn’t talk to them - except to issue commands - while Julia now knows everyone by first names, and makes a point of being friendly,” a spy reveals for the tab.

Admittedly, Nicole reached a new low when a birthday card was passed around and everyone scribbled messages for a “makeup lady” who was celebrating her birthday, but the Aussie wouldn’t even look at it. She wouldn’t be bothered with such nonsense.

Julia made sure her next move would teach Nicole a lesson: she ordered a huge birthday cake and lead the entire party right next to Nicole’s trailer, where they partied for hours, singing “Happy Birthday” at the top of their lungs.

The tab doesn’t say whether Nicole loosened up after this, but the implication is that she didn’t.

A juicy story, but probably not true

Sure, some female stars are divas, which makes them horrible to work with / for. But that doesn’t mean that Nicole is one: if she were, we would have heard rumblings about it long before she got to work with Julia on this movie.

Tabloids often run stories of feuds between co-stars, especially if they’re female: it’s almost as if no one in the industry believes 2 or more famous women can work together and not get into some kind of major drama, for whatever reason.

Ironically, this never happens with an all-male cast: when more famous actors start working together on a new project, we usually get stories of insane partying and drunken nights out on the town, not of catfighting and name-calling.

Then again, you know what they say about there not being any smoke without a fire. Chances are Julia and Nicole didn’t have the best relationship (it can happen!), but not necessarily because Nicole was an insufferable, uptight diva.
