The other day, an interview Julia Roberts recently gave went online, generating lots of praise for the actress. Not only did she take a stand against the impossible standards Hollywood forces women to attain, but she also said that, personally, she would never comply with these veiled demands. It could be that Julia was a bit of a hypocrite, plastic surgeon Tony Yun believes.

In the aforementioned interview, Julia, who has always been considered a beauty outside norms (but a beauty nonetheless), was saying that she didn’t want to get Botox injections. Her motives were not to be found in the fact that her livelihood depended on her ability to render emotion with her face but in that she wanted her children to be able to tell how she felt by simply looking at her face. Of course, her aversion to plastic surgery doesn’t seem to include a nose job as well.

“That sounds a bit excessive. Someone should tell her that Botox is temporary, is performed on hundreds of thousands of men too, and doesn’t typically alter one’s appearance in a major way. This is unlike a rhinoplasty, which I believe she may have had done. Thanks for reading,” Dr. Yun writes on his blog. Dr. Yun has never met and / or treated Julia, so this is just his personal opinion.

“I want my kids to know when I’m [upset], when I’m happy and when I’m confounded. Your face tells a story and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office,” was Julia’s answer to the question of why she doesn’t want to get Botox. “It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I’ll look like before I start cleaning the slates,” she added in reference to the pressure put on female stars to look a certain way.

Julia is not the only celebrity to grab headlines for getting plastic surgery on the low-low while speaking against it in media interviews. Just recently, Jessica Biel was saying she was “terrified of Botox,” insisting she wanted to grow old gracefully. All this while, side by side photo comparisons seemed to hint that she had some work done to her nose, which is now narrower and more upturned, as we also informed you.
