Everybody knows jukeboxes, right? Now, I guess that few of you knew that these rather amazing pieces of machinery were born more than 150 years ago and the company which made them all so popular was founded in 1856. Since then, Wurlitzer (for this was the name of the company) has produced and sold zounds of models of jukeboxes from the most Spartan ones to the most neon-loaded, flashing and alluring models human sight has seen across the planet.

They were present in motion pictures from the early days in cinema up to the latest contemporary creations and the jukebox has year by year transformed in a proper symbol of the 20th century, recognized and used wherever possible throughout the world. As nature's way specs it, it finally came the time when Wurlitzer "got old" and could not keep up with the modern days.

But the legend lived on, as Gibson Guitars bought the company and sworn to restore once more the pride and glamour of the olden days. Thus the heritage was not lost, au contraire, it seems that the Wurlitzer jukeboxes will become a hit once more. These days the CD version of the 1941 Wurlitzer Jukebox 850 is hitting the market!

Peacock was one of the best selling pieces from Wurlitzer and it has once more this chance as the re-made version looks even better: it sports all the original details and design but everything has a contemporary technical progress background.

Marbleized plastic and all sorts of color-elements are present and sleek animated menus are standard. The CD-support and LCD lighting are also standard. The overall functionality and internal mechanics have been dramatically improved as the Peacock only looks antique but is actually stuffed with new tech.

The Wurlitzer Peacock Jukebox 850 will be available starting with the last weeks of the summer at very "collector" price. Other more extensive specs are expected but most likely they'll be made official just prior to the launch date.
