14 DAY TRIAL // Joy Behar is leaving ABC’s The View. After more than 16 years on the show, Joy has already informed ABC bosses that she would not renew her contract once it’s up next August because she wants to do other projects as well.
Deadline got confirmation of this from Behar herself, with the network issuing a statement to confirm it hours later.
The deal is done.
“It seemed like the right time. You reach a point when you say to yourself, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do — I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup,” she says.
However, Joy wants to do her own talk show as well.
“I do like talk shows, I’m interested in talking to people. I want to do an intelligent talk show where you have room to breathe,” she explains.
