Fergie has already returned to the recording studio after enjoying her first-time experience with motherhood but, if husband Josh Duhamel has his way, it won’t be with her friends in the Black Eyed Peas but to work on her next solo album.

Josh is pushing Fergie to leave the band for good to focus exclusively on her solo career, which was once so promising, insiders dish for Radar Online.

“Josh is pushing hard for Fergie to make a much cleaner and clearer break from the Black Eyed Peas so she can re-invent herself as a solo artist without the looming specter of will.i.am influencing every creative decision she makes,” says a spy.

Fergie is yet to offer him a response one way or the other, but Josh is determined to keep on going until she finally sees things his way. Apparently, the handsome actor believes Fergie is lacking the confidence she needs to believe she’ll be successful solo but he has plenty of that for the both of them.

“Josh is her biggest fan and he’s getting a lot more assertive and interested in Fergie’s business. He wants to drive a more permanent wedge between her and Will,” the spy explains.

In her first endeavor as a solo artist, “The Dutchess,” which came out in 2006, Fergie enjoyed lots of success. It’s time she got back into the studio and came out with a worthy follow-up, Josh believes.
