Jordin Sparks says she’s now making better choices, controlling portions, working out

Jordin Sparks is looking better than ever these days – so good that she’s even taken to her Twitter to boast about her bangin’, summer-ready body. In a brand new interview, the singer talks about the decision to lose weight and how she didn’t do it to “fit in.”

Having been a very loud supporter of curves until not long ago, Jordin tells AOL Music that her dropping a few pounds doesn’t mean that she’s changed her mind: she only decided to lead a healthier life, and this was the result.

As for that photo of herself in the polka-dot bikini that caused such waves online, she honestly believed it was too good not to upload it on Twitter to share it with her fans. Plus, she really loved that swimsuit.

There’s really not much of a secret to her weight loss, the singer explains: she’s been more careful about what she eats and she’s been working out, so it’s no wonder the results are already visible.

Jordin is adamant that her weight loss has nothing to do with wanting to be like the rest of the pop stars out there and that it was definitely not due to pressure from the media to look a certain way.

As she puts it, because she’s young and she operated this small change in her life, it just happened.

“It wasn't as if I was like, ‘Oh my God, everybody else is so skinny and I have to be like that and be just like them.’ It wasn’t that at all,” the singer says in the interview.

“It was just that I know I feel better when I’m more active and I know that it will do well for me in the long run. My schedule is getting so insane and I would much rather be healthy,” Jordin adds.

“Every time someone sees a slimmed-down picture of me it’s not because I felt the pressure of the girl next to me being size 2, so I have to be that way too. It’s just making the choice for myself to be healthier, because I know that I’m less sick when I’m more active, I have more energy when I’m more active,” the former American Idol alum underlines.
